Grade 3 Starter II

Activity Time!

You are going to make lots of mistakes. So next time you make a mistake, STOP. Think about the mistake you just make. Then notice any negative thoughts you might be having like:

  • I should have got that right;
  • How could I make that mistake?
  • I am never going to get it right.

If you are having any of those thoughts, or even if you are not, make sure that when you make a mistake that you do not give up. That you keep going.

Then make your own Mistakemas tree (you can see ours in the video!). You can just draw it. It does not have to be a real one. Each time you make a mistake, draw a little cross on the tree (you can even write the mistake next to the cross). It does not matter how many crosses you get, what really matters is how many times you keep going.

Brain activity in the synapse (the space between two brain cells) sparks when we make a mistake because it shows our brain is struggling. This struggle is a good because challenge results in brain growth.
